Allied
Mineral Products’ Electric Vibration System (EVS) was granted a
U.S. Patent June 1, 2004. The patent is titled “Method of
Installing a Refractory Lining.” The EVS is a refractory
installation system that reduces time, labor and cost by densifying
alumina, magnesia and silica dry-vibratables without manually de-airing
prior to form vibration.
This
patented invention allows customers to install dri-vibratables in an
induction furnace more uniformly and rapidly. The installation time and
manpower requirements have been reduced by half in many installations.
The key to this patent is the innovative application of a variable
frequency/variable amplitude electric vibrator which can both de-air and
densify Allied’s dri-vibratable refractory. This patented
invention has been used to install refractory in both small (1 ton) and
large (35 ton) coreless induction furnaces. The EVS also has been
used to install dri-vibratables in channel furnaces uppercases for iron,
inductors for zinc, copper and iron melting applications. Contact Bill
